Starting at the RNC, I've had many opportunities to work with candidates and organizations excited to experiment with the potentials of online campaigning. I've designed sites for governors, congressmen, senatorial candidates and potential RNC Chairs to name a few. Each has been a unique experience that has encouraged me to grow as a designer and new media proponent.
One Congressman in particular stands out for his willingness to interact with his supporters and test the limits of online engagement; that's current Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy. I first worked with Mr. McCarthy during the 2008 election cycle when he chaired the RNC platform committee. Under his direction we accomplished something historic. We opened the drafting process to the public by designing a site that allowed our constituents to submit their beliefs and ideas on the issues they found most important, informing the committee and ultimately shaping the Republican Party's 2008 Platform.
